The Byzantine Museum of Fthiotida in Ypati has been operating since January 2007. It is housed in the building of the so-called "Kapodistrian Barracks" built in 1836 for the needs of the Greek army.
In 1982, the building, which during its history has been used for various purposes, was registered as a Historical Monument and in 1998 was given to the Ministry of Culture by the Municipality of Ipati for its conversion into a Museum.
In the Museum, which is developed on two floors, you can admire exhibits that come from various areas of Fthiotida and date from the early Christian and Byzantine period (4th-14th century).
